چکیده

Carbon Nanotube Growth: Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VANTs) were grown by chemical vapor deposition (1) on Silicon substrates with ~1.5 nm Fe on 10 nm Al2O3 as a catalyst system. The substrates were loaded into a 1” Linderberg/Blue M Mini-Mite Tube Furnace, heated to 450 °C under 200 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm) nitrogen, soaked in a reducing atmosphere (hydrogen 40 sccm: nitrogen 200 sccm) for 5 minutes, and then heated to 750 °C. Ethylene (40 sccm) was introduced for 30 minutes along with 2 sccm of water saturated nitrogen. VANTs were characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) conducted with a FEI Sirion XL30 SEM. The VANTs were hundreds of microns tall with average diameters of ~10 nm.

Effect of tocopherol on Pluronic microemulsions: turbidity studies and Dynamic light scattering and dynamic surface tension measurements

The development and design of the biocompatible and biodegradable thermodynamically stable micellar and microemulsion transparent dispersions to reduce the free and unbounded drugs concentration in the blood is a basic challenge in field of drug efficacy and bioavailability of drugs. In the current work, solubilization capacity of the drug (Tocopherol), oil (Ethyl Butyrate), and oil+drug (1:1 m...

Surface tension mediated conversion of light to work.

As energy demands increase, new, more direct, energy collection and utilization processes must be explored. We present a system that intrinsically combines the absorption of sunlight with the production of useful work in the form of locomotion of objects on liquids. Focused sunlight is locally absorbed by a nanostructured composite, creating a thermal surface tension gradient and, subsequently,...

Density and Temperature Dependencies of Liquid Surface Tension

In this paper the density and temperature dependencies of surface tension are investigated. Using the Lennard-Jones (12,6), as an effective pair interaction potential, a linear expression is derived for isotherms of g /r2  versus r2 for some normal and ChloroFluoroCarbons (CFCs)</...

Surface Tension Prediction of n-Alkanes by a Modified Peng-Robinson Equation of State Using the Density Functional Theory

Through this study, the ability of a modified Peng-Robinson (MPR) equation of state in predicting the surface tension of n-alkanes based on the density functional theory approach was investigated and compared with other studies. The interfacial layer thickness and the density profile were calculated simultaneously at different temperatures from triple point to near critical point using the modi...

A New Surface Tension Model for Prediction of Interaction Energy between Components and Activity Coefficients in Binary Systems

In this work, we develop a correlative model based on the surface tension data in order to calculate thermodynamic parameters, such as interaction energy between components (Uij), activity coefficients and etc. In the new approach, by using Li et al. (LWW) model, a three-parameter surface tension equation is derived for liquid mixtures. The surface tension data of 54 aqueous and 73 non-aqueous ...
